8 Things To Do While You’re Waiting

Waiting can be one of the most challenging aspects of life. Whether you’re waiting for a job opportunity, a relationship, or a dream to come true, the waiting period can test your patience, faith, and resolve. However, in the midst of waiting, there are valuable lessons to be learned and essential actions to take. In this blog post, we will explore what to do while you’re waiting, drawing inspiration from biblical principles that provide guidance and encouragement during this season of anticipation.

Obey the Last Thing That God Told You to Do (Genesis 6:22): The importance of obedience cannot be overstated. God blesses our acts of obedience. By obeying the last instruction given to us, we align ourselves with God’s plan, inviting His blessings and favor into our lives.

Do Not Make an Ishmael (Genesis 12, 15, 21): Impatience can lead us to take matters into our own hands, just as Abraham and Sarah did when they tried to fulfill God’s promise through Ishmael. Trust in God’s timing and refrain from forcing situations. His plans are perfect, and He will fulfill His promises in His way and in His time.

Stay Within the Bounds of Your Assignment (1 Samuel 13:7–11): It’s essential to operate within the boundaries of what God has authorized you to do. Going beyond these limits can lead to unnecessary complications. Seek God’s guidance to discern your purpose and calling, and focus on fulfilling the tasks He has set before you.

Be Patient in Hope (Psalm 40:1–3): Patience is a virtue, especially when waiting on God’s promises. Allow this waiting period to develop patience within you. Hope in the Lord, trust His timing, and be assured that He is working behind the scenes for your good.

Grow and Become Strong (Luke 1:80): Instead of idly waiting, use this time to grow and strengthen yourself. Just as John the Baptist grew in the desert, you too can use this season to prepare yourself mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Serve others, invest in learning, and develop your skills.

Maintain Your Relationship with the Holy Spirit (Luke 2:25–28): While waiting, it’s crucial to stay connected with the Holy Spirit. Walk in His presence, seek His counsel, and remain sensitive to His leading. He will provide comfort, guidance, and the assurance that God’s promises will be fulfilled in your life.

Rest and Be at Peace (Revelation 6:9–11): Restlessness and anxiety often accompany waiting. However, God calls us to rest in Him. Be at peace, knowing that God is in control. Surrender your worries to Him and trust that His timing is perfect. Resting in God’s peace will give you the strength to endure the waiting period.

Pray and Wait Expectantly (Acts 1:4): Prayer is a powerful tool while waiting for God’s promises to unfold. It is how we actively wait, expressing our trust, dependence, and hope in Him. Pray with expectancy, knowing that God hears your prayers and will answer them according to His perfect will.

Waiting might not be easy, but it can be a season of tremendous growth, faith-building, and intimacy with God. By obeying His commands, exercising patience, and maintaining a strong connection with Him, you can navigate the waiting period with grace and confidence. Trust that God is faithful, and His promises will come to pass in your life. So, as you wait, let your faith be your guide, and let patience have its perfect work.
